Recreational Flying 7" GPS for Street and Air Navigation

- The Recreational Flying 7" GPS, like its smaller 5" brother, were born from a worldwide proven car GPS unit and then transformed into a car and aviation unit that would also meet the quality and demands of aviation, an industry that demands reliability and integrity. We improved the specifications and made the hardware components more durable to increase reliability over a standard car unit for example increasing the system memory, the flash memory for fast start of applications, and also reducing the screen resolution for improved sunlight operation and all into a GPS unit that pilots can use in the air but also when driving their car through the streets of town.

We developed our own version of an advanced menu system and enabled the user to install their own applications and customise the GPS to their own needs within the Microsoft Windows CE v6 Operating System. We also obtained 3rd party applications to even further enhance the use of the GPS such as a PDF file viewer, games, aviation applications for pilots and more, all free and installed on the unit ready for you to use.

We didn’t stop there. We then went out and sourced accessories that you may need, even having some specially made for the Recreational Flying GPS units like a Sun Shield, Flat Panel Mount, Screen Protector etc and YES, they ALL come included in the box, a complete package with everything you need built to a very high standard...it’s not just a GPS, it is a complete Recreational Flying GPS Solution at an extremely affordable price and at the same time helps to keep the Recreational Flying (.net) website free for all pilots to use in helping each other.

Notes:

1. The Recreational Flying GPS is a low cost solution for VFR use and thus does not have terrain warning like units far more expensive. We support the thought that VFR Pilots should be looking outside their aircraft then to be looking at a GPS unit as an auxillary device.

2. The Recreational Flying GPS comes standard with full street navigation to use as a turn by turn voice assisted in-car GPS. To use the GPS as an aviation WAC/VNC/VTC moving map display GPS, as shown in the product images, you also need an OziExplorer CE licence and MapTrax map(s) that are also available as options. If you already have OziExplorer just enter your licence code into the preinstalled copy on the unit. You can also copy AirNav flight plans and waypoints on to the unit. There are over 2,440 OziExplorer waypoints already preloaded on to the GPS for you.

3. The differences between the 5" and 7" are the 5" has better sunlight readability, but has a smaller screen. The 7" has a much larger screen, great for viewing flight plans etc, requires harder finger taps to avoid accidentally tapping the wrong option when flying but requires more care when positioning the unit to avoid direct sunlight reflection due to its glass panel

4. You can install any navigations software that you may prefer on the GPS providing it can be used on Windows CE v6 devices
